Admin Professionals Bargaining and Campaign Update Sept 13th 2023

Dear members,

We will be meeting with Employer representatives tomorrow—Thursday, September 14th—to continue our essential services negotiations.

The unions have asked for dates to resume negotiations for almost six weeks now. However, your Employer and the Province have refused to provide dates. Administrative professionals in Nova Scotia deserve more respect than this from their Employers and the Premier.

As we’ve mentioned, the unions have planned a series of actions to create pressure in order to resume negotiations on a new collective agreement. That plan will begin rolling out this week and will continue in the coming weeks. It includes:

  • Media Release: the unions sent a media release today, taking the employers and government to task for dragging bargaining out.
  • Print Ad/Open Letter: we will be running a print advertisement in The Herald later this week, sharing an open letter from the unions about the status of bargaining.
  • Radio: we are planning to run a second radio spot, with a message directed at the Premier about the disrespect he and his government have shown towards your bargaining unit.
  • Fireside Chat: we are asking members to consider attending a public “tea & chat” with the Finance Minister on Tuesday, September 19th at 6 p.m. at the Hillside Wesleyan Church.
  • Day of Action: we are planning a Day of Action on Monday, September 25th. We will be sending out further details on where these rallies will be held.

Please stay tuned for additional actions to be shared. It’s time to get loud!
