Health Care Bargaining Update Aug 9th 2024
Health Care Council of Unions and Employers Schedule Another Day of Bargaining
The Bargaining Committee for the Health Care Council of Unions negotiated late into the evening last night, Thursday, August 8, with the assistance of a conciliation officer.
Although the parties remain far apart on key wage issues, the Council and the IWK and Nova Scotia Health agreed to schedule another day of bargaining for Tuesday, August 13.
August 13 had been one of three dates set aside to continue negotiations on Essential Services for this bargaining unit. The day will instead be used for collective agreement bargaining. The other two previously scheduled days, Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15, will still be used for essential services negotiations.
The Health Care Council of Unions conducts bargaining on behalf of approximately 9,000 workers in the Health Care bargaining unit. The Council is made up of NSGEU, CUPE and Unifor members across the province.
