Support Bargaining Update November 30th 2021

November 30, 2021

Good Afternoon Members,

Bargaining has commenced for a new collective agreement between the Council of Union Support Bargaining Unit and the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSH), and Izaak Walton Killam Hospital(IWK). Today both the Council of Unions and the employers exchanged proposals. This exchangemarks the first step in bargaining a new collective agreement.

Over the last two months, your elected bargaining committee members have worked diligently onyour behalf. They have met numerous times to develop proposals based on your input from our member surveys. The committee consists of members from Unifor, CUPE and NSGEU and from all areas of the Province.

The Council of Unions is negotiating an Essential Service Plan (ESP) for your bargaining unit asrequired by Bill 1. As of today, the IWK Essential Service Plan is near completion. The NSH has provided us with a proposed plan for consideration. We have scheduled dates to discuss and negotiate an Essential Service Plan that works for our members at NSH.

Bargaining dates for the Collective Agreement will take place December 14, 15 and

  1. There are also subsequent dates scheduled for January 25 and 26, 2022. Your bargainingcommittee will keep you updated as we progress in this process.

The committee would like to thank the members for their continued support and solidarity as we bargain a new collective agreement.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your Area VP.
